After Khan Saray Rose, I wanted to present rose through an entirely different idea—not simply to create another rose perfume, but to capture a moment whose aroma I have always loved: the scent of roses after the rain.

Once touched by water, roses take on another character. Their aroma becomes deeper and fuller, revealing a greenness, moisture and beauty that cannot be experienced in quite the same way when the petals are dry.

I began imagining a vast rose garden in the morning, moments after the rain had passed. Drops of water still rest upon the petals, the earth is damp, and the air carries the aroma of wet roses between the great, ancient trees surrounding the garden.

From among those trees comes the scent of wood and oud, mingling with the garden air after the rain, while you sit quietly with a warm cup of coffee. Wet roses, aged wood, damp earth and morning coffee—all moving within the same scene, with no element separate from the others.

From this image, Rose After Rain was born: an attempt to preserve that fleeting moment when roses become deeper, more beautiful and entirely different from what they were before the rain touched them.

The fragrance opens with the radiance of yuzu and bergamot. Their fresh citrus brightness opens the scene like the first light after the rain has ended. Frankincense moves between them with resinous clarity, while geranium gives the opening a vivid greenness that recalls wet stems and leaves.

Ylang-ylang then appears with its soft floral texture, connecting the initial freshness to the perfume’s rose-filled heart.

At the heart, four distinct expressions of rose unfold: Turkish rose, Taif rose, Bulgarian Rose Absolute and Crimean rose. They do not appear as separate layers but intertwine to create a rich and profound rose accord, carrying the freshness of rain-covered petals, the greenness of leaves and the warmth of the flower after the storm has passed.

Jasmine, tuberose and osmanthus move quietly between the roses. Jasmine brings floral radiance, tuberose adds creamy fullness, and osmanthus passes through with its soft character, giving the roses greater depth and texture.

As the fragrance develops, the garden begins to reveal its darker side. The citrus light gradually recedes, and the aroma of damp earth, roots and the old woods surrounding the roses begins to emerge.

Then comes the coffee.

The coffee appears dark and roasted, while cocoa gives it a gentle bitterness and deep warmth without turning the composition sweet or gourmand. It is the aroma of a warm cup of coffee within the scene—not a separate dessert-like accord.

In the base, four different expressions of oud come together. At their center is a special blend of Sticky Cambodian Oud and Yakutian Deer Musk Grains, desert-aged for nearly one year until the resinous density of the oud and the soft animalic warmth of the musk became almost inseparable.

Merauke Oud, Pursat Oud and Shan Special K join this aged blend. Together, the woods and musk merge with damp earth, coffee and cocoa, creating a dark, dense foundation beneath the roses without concealing them.

The roses remain present until the end, but they are no longer bright, dry flowers. They become deeper, darker and closer to the earth—as though the rain has revealed not only their aroma, but also the soil, roots and woods that have surrounded them all along.

Rose After Rain is presented at a concentration of 45% Extract, in a limited edition and one size only: 30 ml. Due to the limited quantities of several materials used in its composition, it was not possible to produce a larger batch or offer a corresponding perfume oil edition.

Rose After Rain is a quiet morning in a rose garden after the rain: wet petals, ancient trees, dark oud, aged deer musk and a warm cup of coffee.
