The idea of creating an entire perfume centered around tuberose was not initially part of my plans. However, more than one person told me how much they loved this flower and asked me to create a perfume in which tuberose would be the central character.

Shortly afterward, I received a sample of Tuberose SQ that was completely different, with a distinctive character and personality of its own. I began using it in an initial trial, and the result was exceptionally beautiful. I loved it, and everyone who experienced it was captivated from the very first moment.

However, when I tried to obtain a larger quantity, finding the same batch—with precisely the same aroma and character—proved extremely difficult. I did not want to replace it with another tuberose or complete the perfume with a material that could not produce the same result, so I spent a long time searching specifically for the remaining quantity from that batch.

I waited until I was finally able to secure enough of it to complete the composition and present it as a full release.

This is where Tuberose Royal began.

Tuberose Royal is unapologetically floral.

The opening is an enormous tuberose — creamy, intoxicating and intensely narcotic. It has that almost buttery richness that only exceptional tuberose can produce, with a powerful white-floral presence that immediately fills the space.

The tuberose is joined by ylang-ylang and jasmine, making the heart even more extravagant. The flowers become creamy, exotic and almost tropical, with a beautiful natural richness that continues for hours.

A subtle rose facet appears underneath, bringing a slightly greener, fresher edge to the enormous white-floral accord. There is also a bright touch of tropical fruit, giving the opening a flash of sweetness and freshness before the composition becomes deeper.

The transformation in the drydown is particularly beautiful.

The enormous floral heart slowly settles over dark Cambodian oud, while frankincense and warm benzoin glow underneath. The contrast between creamy tuberose and dark resinous wood is what gives Tuberose Royal its character.

The result is an extravagant white floral that eventually becomes dark, warm and sensual, with tuberose remaining at the center from beginning to end.
